At the heart of Lyn’s House are small, mixed-ability groups who travel together over time and meet to eat, pray and just spend time together in a spirit of friendship. It was DIY pizza for this group last Wednesday!

Beginning a new academic year
We’ve begun meeting to eat and pray again! It’s been great to be back together. We celebrated a birthday too! These small, mixed-ability groups are at the heart of Lyn’s House: people journey together over a whole year (sometimes longer) deepening understanding and trust – in each other and in God.
Starting a new year
We found some lovely new (second-hand) furniture for the lounge-diner in Lyn’s House! The new dining benches have cushions – so they’ll be more comfy to sit on. We have a new sofa, armchair, and armchair-bed, and some wooden side tables. Now to add some people….!
We’re 10 Years Old!!
On Sunday June 11th we celebrated our tenth anniversary in glorious sunshine – with almost 70 people gathered in the gardens outside the house! There were people from far and near: people who had been part of Lyn’s House from the very beginning, as well as lots of newer friends and supporters. We tried toContinue reading “We’re 10 Years Old!!”
New research project at Lyn’s House
We’re delighted that a new research project is starting at Lyn’s House this autumn. It will be a collaboration with John Swinton and the Centre for Spirituality, Health and Disability at the University of Aberdeen. Members of the Lyn’s House community will be participants in designing, conducting and disseminating the research. We hope that itContinue reading “New research project at Lyn’s House”
He did it!
And in a new personal best! We’re really grateful to John Tallamy for running in the Cambridge half marathon to help support Lyn’s House, There’s still time to donate to help him over the line with his fundraising target – just 9% short! Hope you don’t feel it too much tomorrow – and thank youContinue reading “He did it!”
Marathon Man!
John Tallamy is running in the Cambridge Half-Marathon this Sunday (March 5th) to raise money for Lyn’s House. Here he is running it back in 2020! Lyn’s House relies entirely on donations to keep us going. This covers the rent of a community room; food for shared meals; resources for arts and crafts activities; andContinue reading “Marathon Man!”
February tea party
We met over tea and cake for the second time this term. We welcomed five visitors, celebrated a couple of recent birthdays, and all got involved in acting out the story of Jesus feeding 5,000 people with just a child’s packed lunch! Pictures of the drama below. Jesus’ friends are worried. Nobody knows how toContinue reading “February tea party”
October Tea Party
On a sunny autumn day, it was great to be together in the garden over tea and cake at the start of the new Cambridge term. There was some bulb-planting to help us remember hope and life as the days get colder and darker. We also prayed that God would guide us as we beginContinue reading “October Tea Party”
Welcomes, endings and farewells
We were delighted to welcome members of the Community of St Anselm to our final tea party of the year. We also said thank you to our departing Resident community member, Lakshmi, for all she has meant to us in her two years in the house. We gave gifts, and sang (some of us danced!)Continue reading “Welcomes, endings and farewells”
